Radiology
The Radiology Department at Bibb Medical Center has updated most of its equipment, including the ultrasound machine, CT scanner, portable x-ray unit and the Teleradiology system.
With the new CT equipment, the number of studies that can be performed has greatly increased and the time to execute them has declined significantly. Most exams can now be done in less than 30 minutes. Some test, such as the Bone Mineral Density Test, only takes 10 minutes. The table has a higher weight limit capacity than the previous scanner and is more accessible for all patients, especially people in wheelchairs or with physical handicaps.
The hospital has also upgraded the Teleradiology system, which allows the images from the CT unit to be transferred to a website. The images can be viewed almost instantaneously by the Radiologist in Montgomery. This allows in quicker interpretation times resulting in a quicker diagnosis by the attending physician.
Services and Hours of Availability:
- Routine and emergency diagnostics radiology procedures, EKG's, CT's and Teleradiology for emergency CT procedures are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Screening Mammograms are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
